Likely the softest most cushioned trail shoe currently on the market, it’s hard not to love and appreciate the plush underfoot feel of the Nike Zoom X Ultrafly Trail as much at the end of a long run as in the first mile. Quite a ‘feet’ by Nike, other than a welcomed propulsive effect, the rigidity of a full length carbon Flyplate is hardly noticeable given the encapsulation by the exceptionally comfortable and forgiving Zoom X midsole. With shallow lugs and a narrowed midfoot, this shoe rolls beautifully on gravel and other smooth trails. A wide forefoot, a Vibram including side walled outsole, and light but highly effective overlays, all contribute to a stable and secure ride allowing one to push the pace without hesitation. Similar to the game changing Vapourfly on the road, this shoe now sets a trailblazing precedence.
